Dr. Fernanda Barona is a passionate periodontist dedicated to transforming lives through healthy, beautiful smiles. For her, periodontics is the foundation of dental wellness, blending aesthetics and function to boost patients’ confidence and quality of life.
Raised in Guayaquil, Ecuador, in a family of dentists, she earned her Doctorate of Dental Surgery at the Catholic University of Guayaquil. Drawn to periodontics, she completed a Master of Science in Craniofacial Science and Diploma in Periodontics at the University of British Columbia, followed by an intensive three-year residency mastering periodontal disease treatment, gum and bone reconstruction, and dental implants.
Board-certified in Canada, Dr. Barona delivers highly personalized care, listening closely to each patient’s needs. She stays at the forefront of her field through continuous education and active involvement in professional organizations.
Beyond the clinic, she mentors young dentists, volunteers in rural dental care, and cherishes time with her husband, Dr. Jason Zimmerman, and their sons, Benjamin and Ethan. An avid traveler and outdoor enthusiast, she embraces life with curiosity, warmth, and gratitude.
